How To Make Grass Look Like Snow

Hi all :)

I'm doing a favor for a friend, and she asked if I could photoshop a photo for her trainer of their horses. She wants me to turn the pasture into a snowy one from a really green i, among other things I already know how to practice, but I'm having trouble figuring this 1 out. There is a LOT of grass, and I want to make the snowfall await as real as possible, only also brand it look similar a Christmas card that somebody may have drawn?

I tried searching for tutorials and found this, only I don't know how well that would work with something like the photograph I'k working on, with a LOT of snow. The white would take over the photograph in my mind.

The picture of the horses looks quite 'warm' - I suggest you use a Photo Filter adjustment layer to 'cool' the tone of the horses either before you re-create them or once they're on a layer on the snowfall shot. There'southward no way they're going to look right unless you lot 'cool' them in some way.

I also agree with hegarty_david... I think you're going to have an easier time combining a snow covered field with the photo yous have. You'll likewise need to put some feed down for them or they are going to look like they are eating snow.

Dupe layer (just to not work on the original).

Go Select > Color Range and set the FUZZINESSS to almost 70 and click on the grass.

Then add a bare layer and make full with white. At present since Not ALL the grass volition be selected it will look similar fresh snowfall and the horses are even so working on the grass. You lot yet may need to play with shadows and if you lot want you tin add a sparse white line to the top of the contend.

Geoff - I posted the original moving-picture show, I know it needs to be cooled downwardly.

Michael - Thank you for the suggestion, I hold. I may consider adding in some hay for them to add to the photo.
