History

Dr. Michael W. Allen of Control Information Corporation (CDC) developed a visual version of PLATO (Programmed Logic for Automated Teaching Operations). When CDC expressed picayune interest in the projection, Allen was permitted to to make a bid for the technology.[1] He and so founded the Authorware company in 1984,[2] and soon captured lxxx% of the computer-based learning market.[3]

Release history

The visitor'southward flagship project was outset released as Best Course of Activeness for Macintosh earlier beingness renamed to Authorware Professional in early 1992.[4] [five] Authorware Inc. then merged with MacroMind-Paracomp to form Macromedia in March 1992.[half-dozen]

Discontinuation

In December 2005, Macromedia itself was acquired by Adobe Systems.[7] On Baronial 3, 2007, Adobe announced that Authorware development would be discontinued equally the eLearning market had migrated to its Flash and Obsess products.[viii] [ix] The final released version was seven.0.ii.[x]
